Photos and specs for the Canon EOS 50D DSLR camera were leaked earlier this week. Accusations were flying that the camera was a fake, but now Canon has officially announced the 50D. The camera features a 15.1-megapixel resolution, expanded ISO range and enhanced noise reduction.
The image sensor is Canon's new DIGIC 4 unit and utilizes a new Creative Auto Mode to allow for creative image enhancement without needing to be a photography expert. The 50D can shoot 6.3 frames per second bursts of up to 90 large/fine JPEGS or 16 RAW images to a UDMA CF card.
ISO range for the 50D is from ISO 100 to ISO 12800. The LCD uses Live View and is 3-inches in size. The viewfinder has 0.95x magnification. The auto focus microadjustment feature from the EOS-1D is featured. Other features include face detraction, Live Mode AF, and more. The EOS 50D will go on sale in October and the body only will retail for $1399. A kit version with an EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens will retail for $1599.
