Today Sony Ericsson published its Software Developer Kit (SDK) for the hot Xperia X1 Windows smartphone.
The Xperia X1 can be personalized through its nine panel user interface. You can access content quickly and directly through the touch screen, easily switching between applications by touching one of the unique customizable panels.
Developers can use the Windows Mobile SDK, free of charge, to produce a wide variety of panels to meet the consumer’s demand for a rich, individualized multimedia experience on their phone.
The XPERIA is a very cool Windows smartphone, but it will not generate a developer hype as the Apple iPhone did with its SDK. The XPERIA has to rely on the existing large Windows Mobile developer community to thrive. How many of those will actually focus or adapt their apps for the XPERIA will have to be seen.
The Sony Ericsson SDK for Windows Mobile 6.1 will be made available for easy download on the Sony Ericsson Developer World website.
The XPERIA X1 is a cool looking arc slider phone with integrated QWERTY keyboard and 3 inch W-VGA (800x480px) touchscreen.
Additionally the XPERIA X1 lets you interact in four different ways: Touch, full QWERTY keyboard, 4-way key and optical joystick.
Other features of the XPERIA X1 include HSDPA, Wifi, 3.2MP camera, aGPS, Bluetooth, FM radio, music player, video player, 400MB internal memory, and microSD card slot.
More details in our first report about the XPERIA X1 announcement back in February. The first Sony Ericsson Windows smartphone is still slated for a Q4 rollout.
