Tonight at the Lange Nacht der Museen (Long Night of Museums) in Berlin Interactive Media Artists Chris Wiener and Stefan Plessner perform an interactive experiment (called meshes) using images sent in live via Camera Mobile Phones. Those images are automatically assembled to a movie with a image processing software from french LTU Technologies.
This automatic generated movie is shown live on projection screens in the Filmmuseum Berlin, Deutsche Guggenheim and in the Museum für Kommunikation.
Starting at 6pm (GMT+1)tonight (Saturday 28th) the movie is also live to watch at http://www.meshes.org/film.
More details on meshes:
The sent in images are sorted based on similarities. The image recognition software analyzes in realtime the images based on contrast, color and color distribution. The sorted images are then assembled to a movie with 12 frames per second. The images are sorted continously incorporating the newly received ones.
Users with a video enabled WAP phone can also access the video directly at http://www.meshes.org/film. More details on the meshes project and background (german).
