Everyone needs a good knife; sure, you can run down to Wal-Mart and grab an entire knife set for $20. However, as many owners of cheap knife sets can attest, they simply don’t cut well. When you are trying to make dinner after a long day at work the last thing you want is a knife that makes cutting meat or vegetables more difficult than needed.
When you say knife most of us think about metal cutting utensils, what many don’t think of is ceramic. In fact, some of the sharpest and most durable knives you can buy are made from ceramic. The Kyocera KT-155HIP-D 6-inch Chef's /knife is a great example. Not only does it look cool, but also the ceramic is harder than metal and keeps a sharp edge much better than metal.
I have used a ceramic knife before and these things can cut fat off a steak like you are slicing butter for your favorite bread. Prep time for your steak, chicken or other meat and vegetables is greatly reduced. You only need one knife too, there is really no need for the average person to own a giant set of knives. The Chef Knife here isn’t cheap at $299.95, but odds are the knife will outlast you and years down the road; your great grandkids may still be using it.
For Whom:
This knife is perfect for anyone who cooks for themselves or for a family that is tired of struggling with dull knives in the kitchen.
The Good:
- Very sharp
- Beautifully built
- Very tough
The Bad:
- Expensive
Where to Buy: Buy your own Kyocera 6-inch ceramic knife here.
