Shazam is a mobile music discovery provider. It announced today that the Shazam application for the iPhone has been downloaded over 1.5 million times in the last six weeks. Shazam says that the application is one of the most popular for the iPhone.
iPhone users have used the application to identify more than 20 million music tracks in the last 2 months. Using the application iPhone owners can identify music tracks, watch the video on YouTube, and buy the track on iTunes via the iPhone.
“The Shazam iPhone application has had a phenomenal user response both in the number of downloads and the number of tracks being identified,” said Andrew Fisher, Shazam’s CEO. “The application taps into the user’s desire to discover, capture and share their music experiences and the success confirms our belief that music recognition will become a ubiquitous feature for all mobile phones in the future.”
