With the economy the way it is today, saving money is a top concern for many people. One of the biggest household expenses is typically the electric bill. You can save money on your electric bill by turning off things like your computer when it's not in use.

What many people don’t realize is that some items like the computer or TV draw power when not technically turned on. The trick to saving more on your electric bill is to find the items that draw power in sleep or standby mode and turn them off completely.

One way to do this is with something like the Kill A Watt. The device plugs into the AC outlet and your electronics plug into it. You can get single outlet versions or complete surge protectors that can monitor a complete computer system or other item. The device shows how much power is being used and helps forecast costs for running the device. Pricing ranges from $29.99 to over $100 depending on the model.
