If you have ever had to run cameras for security around a home or business, you know that you often need cables to connect the camera to a PC and for power. Baumer has announced new cameras that use Power over Ethernet technology.
The camera uses Cat 6 Ethernet cable to send power to operate the camera and connect the camera to the server for recording video with one wire. A power injector module of Ethernet switch can provide power as far as 100m down a cable.
The cameras themselves can operate at up to 90 frames per second with resolution from VGA to 5Meg. Image formats can be changed on the fly. The small cameras are 34 x 34 x 58mm in size for the PoE version.
