Yahoo has added a new feature to its online services called Yahoo Calendar that was made available to users in beta form yesterday. The new program is based on open standards and allows users to discover, share, and track events and appointments. The calendar is a pop-up feature in Yahoo Mail accounts.
Yahoo Calendar is built on the Zimbra platform using iCalendar and CalDAV standards and is interoperable with other calendar services from Mozilla, Apple, Microsoft, AOL, and Google. Appointments can be dragged and dropped and users can zoom in for a day view or zoom out to see the month at a glance.
“With the new Yahoo! Calendar, we’ve taken the concept of a traditional paper calendar and transformed it into a smart, yet simple online tool that helps people to keep track of their schedules, stay organized and be more productive,” said John Kremer, vice president, Yahoo! Mail.
