Pentax announced price reductions on some of its cameras today including one of its most popular DSLR cameras. The Pentax K20D DSLR camera body has been reduced to $999.95 and features 14.6-megapixel resolution. Other features of the K20D include weather-resistant design, three-step dust removal system, and the PRIME image processor. Shake reduction is also built into the camera.
Pentax also cut the price of its Optio W60 point-and-shoot digital camera to $299.95. The W60 is a lightweight camera that is fully waterproof and has 10MP resolution along with a 5x zoom lens. The camera can shoot pictures in up to 13 feet of water for over two hours and can shoot at temperatures under freezing.
The price for the K20D above is for the body only. Recently some cameras like the Nikon G10 have begun to blur the line between the DSLR and the point-and-shoot. Perhaps as the point-and-shoot camera becomes more capable, we will see further price cuts in DSLR products.
