Desktop computers are not as popular as they once were now that notebooks are the best selling systems around. However, for many users a desktop computer is still a desirable system for many reasons. Small form factor desktop PCs are quickly becoming the most popular style for a desktop and eMachines has announced a new SFF system.
The EL 1200 series SFF computer starts at under $300 and the desktop chassis is about the size of a dictionary. eMachines says that the computer is 40% smaller and 55% lighter than its smallest tower PC. Two models are offered including the EL 1200-05w and the EL 1210-01e.
The 05w has an AMD Athlon 2650e CPU, NVIDIA 6150SE integrated graphics, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, DVD burner and the system runs Windows XP Home. Retail pricing for the system is $298. The 01e has the same CPU, 2GB of RAM, NVIDIA 8200 integrated graphics, 320GB HDD, DVD burner, HDMI out, and runs Windows Vista Home Premium. MSRP for the system is $349. The 05w is available at Wal-Mart and the 01e is available at Best Buy.
