Each year Electrolux holds a design contest called the Electrolux Design Lab competition. The winner of this year's competition was Stefan Buchberger who designed a refrigerator concept called the Flatshare for people who live with roommates.
The concept is a base station and up to four stackable modules. Each module allows a roommate to have their own refrigerator space and can be customized with skins and add-ons. Side handles make transporting the modules easy. The catch seems to be the very limited space. You can’t even get a pizza box in the modules from the looks of the design.
"I got the idea to create the Flatshare fridge because in many shared flats there is a problem with the refrigerator," says Buchberger. "It gets filthy because no one person feels responsible for cleaning it."
