MINOX has made what it calls spy cameras since the digital camera was nothing more than a dream. The firm has updated its famous mini spy camera for the digital age and called it the Digital SpyCam. The new DSC is very small at 3 3/8" x 1 3/16" x 7/8" and weighs 2.1 ounces.
The focal length is 8.5mm making it equivalent to 42mm in 35mm format. Internal memory storage is 128MB and it can accept memory cards up to 16GB. Power comes from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Resolution for the camera is 5MP. The Digital SpyCam retails for $199.
“It's not often that a designer gets the opportunity to deal with a legend,” said head designer Jens Kohlhase, “and this MINOX classic has remained unmatched in photographic history”. “It's fascinating how much technical know-how can be packed into such a small space,” he added. “Adapting the legendary spy camera to accommodate complex digital technology and still keep its ultra-miniature format was a real challenge.”
