Toshiba has announced that its new A650 ultraportable is now available in the US. The notebook has a 12.1-inch screen and starts at $1399. The machine was developed with mainstream customers in mind and is enclosed in an aluminum case.

The machine weighs 3.3 pounds and is 1.18 inches thick with 6.9 hours of battery life. The machine also features Toshiba's Sleep-and-Charge ports. Specifications for the machine are 3GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo ULV SU9300, and a DVD burner.

Graphics for the notebook are Intel GMA 4500 MHD and the laptop has an integrated webcam and mic. Wi-Fi integrated is 802.11a/g/n and the machine has an eSATA port. The keyboard is spill resistant and a fingerprint reader is built-in.
