eMagine is showing off its latest microdisplay using SXGA OLED-XL technology. The display provides digital signal processing in a compact package with a 0.77-inch diagonal active area. The display needs less than 200mW of power under normal operating conditions with a brightness of 100 cd/m2 in color.

The new display has enhancements that improve pixel uniformity, enhance contrast, and an on-chip temperature sensor with gamma and luminance compensation. eMagine says that the display has applications for night vision, thermal imaging, tactical awareness, medical imaging, training, and simulation for the mobile and video entertainment market.

“As more applications evolve for mobile information products, higher resolutions are required. In addition, recent developments in high-bandwidth sensor technology have led to increased resolutions and the promise of better performance for upcoming Night Vision systems with challenging requirements for transmitting the information efficiently to the display while keeping overall power consumption low,” said Susan Jones, eMagin’s Chief Business Officer. “Our growing portfolio of dual use OLED microdisplays offers the best combination of high resolution and low power requirements, and promises an easy-to-integrate solution for many virtual imaging systems, including those that operate in adverse conditions such as extreme temperatures and high-vibration conditions.”
