The leaked new Dell mini 12 netbook was officially announced by Dell today.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 features a 12.1 inch display, built-in webcam, 1GB of RAM and a choice of 60 GB or 80 GB HDD, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Windows Vista Home Basic.
Dell is actually installing Vista on this large netbook, or shall we call it a notebook. The Dell Mini 12 still runs on an Atom CPU (Z520 or Z530). I really wonder how Vista is fairing on these low specs.
Dell also will offer the Inspiron Mini 12 with Windows XP and Ubuntu later this year.
The Mini 12 is rather slim at 0.92-1.09 inches and at 2.72 lbs it is also pretty light.
The Inspiron Mini 12 is only available in Japan initially through Bic Camera, Kojima and Sofmap stores and other retail outlets.
It will launch online globally by late November with configurations starting under $600.
See also the Dell Japan site (Japanese).
