AT&T Wireless is launching a new mobile messenger device to maybe keep up with T-Mobile's Sidekick II.
Phonescoop reports based on FCC records that new data centric device features PMG (Personal Mobile Gateway), a Bluetooth-based technology from IXI Mobile (IXI Mobile was also involved in the Bluetooth Wristwatch Seiko Patch).
PMG will allow the ogo to connect to other PMG devices nearby. PMG could also link the ogo to a phone for voice service, which is not included in the device. ogo supports e-mail and instant messaging functions of the AOL, MSN, and Yahoo! portals. Service starts at $14.99 per month.
Clearly the ogo is not as powerful as the sidekick. AT&T will most likely target teens with the oqo.
