Shuttle X27D Barebone Features Intel Atom 330 Dual Core CPU

Shuttle has announced its latest barebone computer system called the X27D. This barebone machine is built around the Intel Atom 330 dual-core CPU and is the first shuttle system to use the Atom processor.

The machine uses an Intel 945GC Express chipset and the system is passively cooled thanks to the Atom CPU. The machine is about 7cm in height and features Gigabit LAN, 6ch audio, two monitor connectors, SATA and support for up to 2GB of RAM. Power for the machine comes from an external 60W PSU. The price for the system is EUR 205 not counting VAT.

"The performance advantage of the two CPU cores with hyper-threading is almost imperceptible in the power consumption - a technical masterstroke," explained Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The work to be handled by the processor is intelligently shared across all the cores, enabling several applications to be used concurrently," continued Seiffert.
