We reported yesterday that Vodafone is offering the new BlackBerry Storm for free with selected calling plans. The iPhone is also available for free in several European markets like UK and Germany with selected plans and it sells for $200 in the United States. Still, Fortune's Techland reports that Verizion is apparently thinking about offering the BlackBerry Storm for free.
A free BlackBerry Storm could push the iPhone 3G and the T-Mobile G1 prices down as well.
The BlackBerry Storm gets decent reviews and if Verizon is brave enough to offer it for free the company could land one of the biggest mobile phone sales hits this holiday shopping season. Verizon is anticipated to launch the Storm in mid-November.
Features of the 3G Storm include "clickable" touch-screen supporting single-touch, multi-touch and gestures, screen resolution of the 3.25 inch is 480 x 360 resolution at 184 ppi, 3.2MP camera, 1 GB of onboard memory storage, microsd card slot, media player, 3.5mm headset jack, full HTML browser, and a removable and rechargeable 1400 mAhr battery that provides approximately six hours of talk time on 3G networks and 15 days of standby time.
Measurements of the Storm are 112.5x62.2x13.95mm and the weight is 55g.
More details about the BlackBerry Storm.
