Last Holidays the Dash Express GPS device made big waves with its innovative two-way internet connectivity. According to GigaOm Dash is discontinuing the Dash GPS device that finally was actually affordable on Amazon.com ($299).
Dash is cutting staff and changing its business model from consumer-focused to business-to-business. This is the typical path a company takes if it still has cash or found a new investor supporting the new strategy
Making and selling gadgets directly to consumers is always a very hard thing t odo and only a few start-ups succeed. Internet connected navigation devices are clearly the future, but it is definitely easier for car makers to enhance their rip-off priced built-in GPS with internet information.
If you are a Dash Express owner you can still of course use your device and supposedly maintenance updates will continue.
