DisplayLink is great technology that allows users to add more displays without needing to install additional video cards. All a DisplayLink display needs is a single USB connection. The latest DisplayLink product comes from Nanovision and is a 7-inch LCD with a resolution of up to 800 x 400.
The MIMO display is good for displaying things like gadgets or widgets, IM chats, TV, Video or music. All of the power and connectivity with the host system the LCD needs comes from the USB port. The 7-inch LCDs are in the 700 series and the lowest cost version starts at about $129. It can operate in mirror or extended desktop modes. Higher end models add webcams, mic, and earphone jacks while the high-end UM-750 is touch capable.
“Nanovision gives you what you want, when you want it,” said Hamid Farzaneh, president and CEO of DisplayLink. “Fun applications are always within view, while reserving your main screens to the productivity task at hand.”
