Wacom announced today that it plans to launch a new line of capacitive touchscreen components called CapPLUS. The components promise performance gains over currently used touchscreen products and are based on Wacom's Reversing Ramped Field Capacitive technology.

The components will be used in the retail, hospitality, desktop display, casino, and other businesses. Wacom says the new technology provides for drift-free touch control that is stable around metal and can be used while wearing gloves. The technology scales to displays up to 32-inches in size.

“Standard touch components will open new paths to growth for Wacom and place Wacom firmly in the high-end segment of the global touch industry, a segment that is estimated to exceed $400 million in annual revenue,” said Masahiko Yamada, President and CEO of Wacom Company Ltd. “CapPLUS strengthens our product portfolio and continuing commitment to becoming a key global supplier of natural and intuitive human-machine interface solutions.”
