Aleratec announced the second generation of its CD/DVD Shredder. The device is described as a quick and easy way to destroy confidential, classified, business, and personal data that is stored on CD or DVDs. Once shredded the data on the discs can’t be read.
The Shredder has a powerful motor that allows it to cut CDs and DVDs into four strips. The steel cutters are totally enclosed for safety. The device has automatic start and stop that allows it to begin operating when a disk is inserted and stop when the disk is shredded. Pricing for the device is $44.99.
Sensitive data stored on CDs or DVDs can change frequently and disposing of old discs is a growing problem. With identity theft and corporate espionage increasing almost exponentially, just tossing them in the trash is more than dangerous," states Perry Solomon, Aleratec President and CEO. "An Aleratec DVD/CD Shredder makes destroying unwanted discs very easy. This lightweight desktop unit shreds DVDs and CDs in seconds. With its auto start/stop feature all a customer needs to do is insert a disc and the shredder does the rest."
