Here is another sign that people are staying at home this fall. The sales of portable video game consoles fell 14% in October compared to September. The home console sales increased for Nintendo and Microsoft in October.
Sales of the Sony PSP handheld device dipped from 238,100 in October to 193,000 September, while the Nintendo DS sales dropped from 536,800 to 491,000.
The sales decline for the Sony PSP can be attributed though to the release of the new PSP-3000, which started shipping on the last day of October. The November sales numbers will be an important indicator for the PSP.
Nintendo launched only in Japan a new version of its portable DS console with the Nintendo DSi. The DSi did very well in Japan.
