Verizon Wireless has announced its latest addition to its mobile broadband modems called the USB760 Micro modem. The modem is available to purchase and comes from Novatel Wireless. The pocket-sized modem runs on the Verizon EVDO Rev A service and will be in stores on December 1st.
The modem offers up 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot for carrying documents and backing up data. The software needed for the modem to operate is stored on the modem allowing installation on Mac and Windows systems without a CD. Pricing for the modem will be $99.99 after a $50 rebate and new agreement.
Verizon promises speeds of 600Kbps to 1.4Mbps download and upload speeds from 500 to 800 Kbps. The biggest catch to the modem is the data plans. The low cost plans have low bandwidth caps of only 50MB on the $39.99 monthly plan and 5GB on the $59.99 monthly plan. Stream a few flick from Netflix or download say a new NVIDIA driver package and you have killed your monthly usage in one go.
