One of the most affordable ways (besides building it yourself) to get your hands on a solid Intel Core i7 PC is the new Dell Studio XPS line.
Intel makes it easy (for a short while anyway) to recognize what the fastest CPUs are on the planet are. It is one with Core i7 in the name.
There are 3 Core i7 CPUs: 920, 940 and the unaffordable 965XE (over $1,000).
Dell offers the Dell Studio XPS PC line with the choice of the Core i7 920 and Core i7 940.
Pricing starts at $949, but of course you will end up at a higher price by choosing some meaningful upgrades. You can choose up to 12GB RAM, 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4850 video card, 1.28TB RAID 0, and more funky stuff.
A Core i7 PC is ideal for demanding application use, or if you just want to be sure you have the latest processor and motherboard technology in your new PC.
For Whom:
For people who like the latest technology in their PCs, but do not want to deal with the technical details and are not hard core gamers.
The Good:
Affordable
Highly customizable
The Bad:
Windows Vista
Difficult to upgrade (mid-tower)
Not a super high-end gaming PC
Where to Buy:
The Dell Stuido XPS is available on the Dell site. See NewEgg for some other Core i7 PC systems.
