According to Experian Marketing Services consumers started to look for Black Friday deals early this year with traffic to websites increasing 58% for Black Friday deals the week before Thanksgiving. The firm bases its claims off of its Hitwise and CheetahMail services.
The volume of CheetahMail increased more than 60% in the three days before Thanksgiving. The volume of mail on the service has increased more than 100% for Cyber Monday since 2005. The top Black Friday deals site is Blackfriday.info according to Experian.
"As online traffic continues to grow, we also anticipate an increase in email volume on and around Thanksgiving day, despite this year's tough economy," said Ashley Johnston, vice president of marketing for Experian Marketing Services. "In general, we have seen significant growth in the number of companies leveraging email marketing to drive online and offline sales."
