SANYO takes its eneloop battery brand to an electric bicycle. Sanyo unveiled today the eneloop bike, an electric hybrid bicycle.
The eneloop bike has been designed to be the industry’s first to conform to the newest standards, offering a “Power-up Mode” assist ratio of up to 1:2 making riding the bicycle more comfortable, a new “loop charge function” that generates electricity and charges the battery while in use, and a two-wheel drive system provides a safer, more stable ride.
The Sanyo eneloop bike is interesting as it has the electric motor in the front wheel. Your leg power goes into the rear wheel, while the electric motor drives the front wheel.
The new Sanyo eneloop bike will be on sale in Japan in early February 2009. The price is 136,290 yen (~$1,430).
