eBay reports that it saw an increase in shopping activities on its network of websites including eBay, PayPal, and Shopping.com. eBay shoppers reportedly took advantage of the $1 holiday door busters and Bid on $1 auctions.
Shopping.com reports that the most searched for item in its store was the Nintendo Wii and the Wii Fit. PayPal says that it saw 34% more transactions than it had the same time in 2007 and a 26% increase in online payment volume for Black Friday. The most sold item on eBay for Black Friday was the Nintendo Wii with 3,171 sold and the Wii Fit with 1,059 sold.
“Results from Black Friday show that shoppers continue to turn to the Web for their holiday shopping needs, especially for consumer electronics,” said Jim “Griff” Griffith, eBay Marketplace Expert. “Online shopping is convenient and allows consumers to find the best values and vast selection. Shoppers can visit eBay and Shopping.com to purchase all of their holiday items at unbeatable prices, and can pay quickly and securely with PayPal.”
