Medion and AuthenTec announced today three new personal navigation devices that all include a fingerprint scanner. Fingerprint authentication is a theft deterrence device. Without scanning the correct fingerprint, users can’t activate the device.

Each of the three navigation devices uses the small AuthenTec AES1510 fingerprint sensor. The Medion models with the fingerprint sensor include the GoPal P5235, P5435, and X5535. The high-end X5535 integrates a gyroscope to maintain tracking if a GPS signal is lost.

“Because of the success of our first fingerprint secured PND last year, the MEDION GoPal P4425, we wanted to add this same theft-deterrent feature to our newest MEDION GoPal products,” said Mark Jendrzok, MEDION AG’s Director of Product Management, Mobile Computing. “We’re pleased to further expand our relationship with the world’s leading provider of fingerprint sensors and bring peace of mind to owners of these innovative new navigation systems through the integration of AuthenTec’s TruePrint fingerprint sensor technology.”
