JVC recently updated its Times Square billboard in New York City. The new billboard is the first true 720p in Times Square. JVC released some interesting facts about the billboard today. The LED screen has a total of 1,266,400 LEDs in it and the total number of LED modules is 1,007. 431 of those modules are in vertical tickers and 576 of them are in video display modules. Each of the video modules measures 15 x 15 inches. The screen features a 16:9 aspect ratio and can display video content at 60 frames per seconds.
The overall screen size of the billboard is a massive 19 x 34 feet for a total of 7,880 square feet. The massive screen weighs 12,500 pounds. The screen has 3,014 feet of data cable, 2,650 feet of power cables, and 1,250 feet of steel tubing.
JVC says the display uses 1,000 square feet of printed circuit board, which is enough to cover 23 ping-pong tables and the vast majority of New York apartments. Together the power and data cabling stretch over one mile and stacked end on end the circuit boards are five times taller than the Statue of Liberty.
