I am a big fan of the netbook, low-cost, lightweight and very portable all sounds really good to me when I am on a business trip or simply schlepping down to the local coffee shop. The godfather of the entire netbook movement is Asus who first introduced the segment with its Eee netbook. Today we have our hands on one of the earliest review samples of Asus' new Eee 1002HA netbook that is around.

I will be back soon with a full review of the machine, but for now I'll talk a bit about my early impressions of the machine and provide a full photo gallery along with size comparisons to other computers so you can get an idea how small the Eee 1002HA actually is.

The first thing you notice when you unbox the little rig is the very attractive brushed aluminum finish on the lid to the machine. The aluminum is gray in color and gives the Eee 1002HA a very sophisticated look that resists fingerprints well.

Open the lid up and the same aluminum is used on the palm rest area. The 10-inch screen is clear and offers nice color and contrast. The keyboard is tight, as you would expect from such a small screen, but it works well. The keyboard has a few quirks that I will talk about in the full review. The trackpad is awesome and has more in common with the iPhone than the trackpad on your notebook. I'll get into detail about the trackpad in the full review as well. For now enjoy the photo gallery and check back soon for the full review of the Asus Eee 1002HA netbook.

When you are looking at the size comparison photos the silver notebook is a 15-inch Alienware m15x and the blue notebook is a 12.1-inch Hypersonic Avenger AG2.
