Audioengine has released a new wireless adapter for the iPod called the W2 Premium Wireless Adapter. The device is designed to plug into the iPod and a receiver connects to your stereo to give control over music from your iPod.
The adapter is described as a dockless dock with a wireless connection claimed to be more robust than Bluetooth, FM, and other 2.4GHz systems. CD-quality audio is streamed from the iPod to your stereo with no need for network setup or a computer. The adapter will work with up to eight different receivers and has a range of 30 feet. The adapter is available now for $169.
"It’s exciting to have another wireless product to compliment our already successful AW1 wireless adapter," said Brady Bargenquast, Audioengine co-founder. "The Audioengine W2 gives you the convenience of using your iPod as a remote control and is the perfect way to get great quality music wirelessly to your stereo."
