Ultimate Ears has announced what may be the ultimate set of earphones for the iPhone or BlackBerry smartphone. The new TripleFi 10vi may also be the most expensive earphones ever created for a mobile phone with a MSRP of $419.99.
The 10vi earphones use Ultimate Ears' proprietary triple-speaker configuration and a built-in passive-crossover circuit to direct low and mid-range frequencies. The headphones use a pair of dedicated speakers for warm bass and a smooth mid-range and the third speaker channel is for hi-frequency sound.
A multifunction button is included on the earphones to allow users to answer and end calls or play/pause video or music on the device. Hands-free calling is supported with a microphone located for optimal clarity for voice conversations. The earphones include a 1/4-inch adapter jack, cleaning tool, sound-level attenuator, extender cable, and metal storage case.
