Battery technology company Boston-Power has announced that HP is its first customer for the new Sonata Lithium-ion battery packs it developed. The new battery will be available as an upgrade option for HP customers.
Sonata batteries promise to deliver like new battery performance for a full three years. HP customers will be able to choose the Sonata upgrade on select HP notebooks in early 2009. The battery will also be a drop-in replacement that users can order as a second battery for their notebook.
Longer like-new battery life isn’t the only place Sonata batteries bring new capability to notebooks. The batteries promise to be the fastest charging lithium-ion batteries on the market. HP has not announced how much the Sonata battery upgrade will cost consumers at this time.
