SageTV has announced the release of its new SageTV HD Theater that allows full HD playback of home video, music, and photos on a living room TV. Internet video like YouTube can also be played via the device.
To operate the HD Theater needs to be connected to your home TV and to your network or to a mass storage device like an external hard drive. The device will automatically search for content on any USB drive or home network. No PC is needed for accessing Internet video.
It appears that the device has to be connected to a wired network; Wi-Fi is not integrated into the design. Recording of live HDTV can be done when SageTV Media Center software is added on a networked PC, Mac, or Linux computer that has a HDTV tuner card. The SageTV Home Theater is available now for $199.95.
