Wired is reporting that Apple will launch its new Mac Mini at its Macworld Expo in 2009. The Mac Mini rumor comes from an Apple employee who contacted Wired. According to the source, the announcement will be made at Macworld starting on January 5th. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has announced many new Apple products during keynotes at the show.
The Mac Mini has been a subject of debate with some camps saying it will be discontinued and others saying a new verison of the cheapest Mac machine is coming. The last refresh for the mini came in August 2007.
Wired issues some speculation about what might come inside the new Mac Mini. Wired predicts it will be silver (what other color would it be really, the current rig is silver), it will use green parts, DisplayPort will be offered. Wired thinks it will have a slot load superdrive, 2GB of RAM expandable to 4GB, and have at least 160GB of storage. Processors will include two offerings with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo and a 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo on offer. Pricing is predicted to be $500 for the slower rig and $700 for the faster one.
