Rumors of a new Mac Mini have been swirling for much of 2008. The rumors are based in part on some conjecture and the fact that the existing Mac Mini has been unchanged for a long time now. Macworld 2009 took a massive blow when Apple announced that it would no longer attend the show after 2008 and that Steve Jobs would not be on hand to deliver his famous keynote for 2008.
Still, rumors continue to point to a new Mac Mini coming at the show and one person has discovered some code inside the code of OS X running on the new MacBook that lends new weight to the launch of new Minis. CNET News says that MacRumors has verified that strings found in the OS including Macmini3,1 and iMac9.1 would be new models for both systems. The iMac was updated not so long ago to the slick new aluminum designs.
Apparently, the new iMac and Mac Mini would use NVIDIA 9400M graphics like the MacBooks, which would make sense. It seems the Mac Mini may live yet, rumors have circulated saying it would go the way of the Dodo this year as well. We should know in a few weeks what rumor is true.
