It's been a long time since I have seen a NEC notebook and the last one I did see was a boxy black device with no apparent design details other than make it work. NEC has a new notebook line for the Japanese market called the LaVie notebook that is available in several colors and has an attractive design.
The notebook comes in white, pink, black, and red and offers a 15.4-inch LCD with a 1280 x 800 resolution. The CPU is an Intel core 2 Duo P8600 and the machine has 4GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, and uses the Intel GM45 chipset.
Rounding out the features list is Wi-Fi 802.11n, HDMI out, memory card reader, NEC NX Pad and a Felica Port. Felicia is a type of near field communications that we don’t hear much of in the States, but must be common enough in Japan for NEC to include it here. Pricing is unknown at this time.
