Nextar will be showing off new GPS devices at CES 2009, one of the most interesting of them is the Q4-LT unit that offers GPS tracking, and free live traffic updates. I have reviewed a Nextar GPS unit in the past and found that the device worked very well and offered excellent maps.
The only catch here is that the Q4-LT won't be available until Q3 2009. When it does hit stores it will offer a 4.3-inch touchscreen, 3D landmark and sign post viewing, 1.6 million points of interest, text to speech, and more. The live traffic reports will be free of charge forever, which is something other GPS makers don’t offer.
Maps are via NAVTEQ, the same provider for the maps on the Nextar unit I reviewed. The antenna is built-in and the device can play MP3 files and display Jpeg images. The unit will retail for $249.99 and measures 4.6" x 3.19" x 0.8" and weighs 2.3 pounds.
