If we needed anymore proof that everyone (but Apple) is jumping into the netbook market here it is. BenQ has put its first netbook, the JoyBook Lite U101 into the hands of Laptop Magazine. The netbook is said to look like another 10-inch netbook at first glance.
On closer inspection, Laptop says that the U101 has a few perks that could make it more appealing to some netbook users. The lid of the JoyBook is blue and has an emoticon motif. The cover is also available in white, black, and pink colors. The CPU is a 1.6GHz Atom and the machine has 1GB of RAM along with 160GB of storage.
The screen is 10-inches and the netbook itself weighs 2.6 pounds alone and 3.2 pounds with its AC adapter. Overall dimensions are 10.1 x 7.44 x 1.25-inches. Laptop says the U101 is wider, but thinner than the MSI Wind. The keyboard is said to be disappointing with a weird location for the shift key, much like the Eee I reviewed recently. Screen resolution is 1024 x 576, which is less than the typical 1024 x 600 on most 10-inch netbooks.
