The netbook market is booming in the economic climate globally thanks to the low price point and decent performance offered. With the success, it makes sense that everyone who can is trying to get into the netbook market and one of the new entrants is the Gdium netbook.
The netbook looks pretty slick with its 10-inch screen and G-Key that stores the operating system, applications, and portable data. The key is a bootable USB key that is required for the system to run. One of the biggest negatives for the machine in the US market will be that it runs the Linux operating system. It has became quite clear that consumers in the US prefer Windows with return rates on Linux based netbooks higher than those of the Windows brethren.
The other big problem is that while the machine runs Linux, it is priced like a Windows-based netbook at about $400. That is simply too much coin for a Linux netbook in my opinion. It will be available sometime in January in black, white, and pink colors.
