The Lenovo W700ds is the first notebook computer to offer dual screens to mobile workers. Laptop Magazine got their hands on the massive workstation and put the machine through its paces. The unit is the same quad-core W700 notebook released last fall but for the addition of the second 10-inch display on the side.
The massive machine retails for $5100 and weighs a porky 11 pounds. Not something you want to heft through an airport. The power brick alone weighs more than most netbooks. The machine is powered by Intel's QX9300 quad-core CPU and features 4GB of RAM. The rig shattered records in Laptop's PCMark Vantage tests with a score of 5,296, 2,000 points higher than the class average.
Graphics for the rig are from NVIDIA's Quadro FX 3700M with 1GB of video memory. The main 17-inch display is great according to the review, but the secondary screen only allows portrait mode and is not as clear as the main unit is. The notebook received a rating of four out of 5 stars in the end.
