This week 30GB Microsoft Zune players suddenly locked up around the country. Hundreds of reports of the players locking up at the start screen flooded in on New Year's Eve. Apparently, the issue was related to leap year.
Microsoft announced a fix for the device, which was rather simple. Owners needed to let the battery go dead, wait until the New Year, and then charge the battery back up.
Once this was done, the players sprang to life and all was well on the digital music front. I wonder if the Zune will have the same problem each leap year. The bug sounded so much like the Y2K bug that it was dubbed Z2K9.
