Palm officially unveiled the new Palm Pre smartphone running their new webOS. Engadget got the chance to sit down with Palm to get a more indepth hands-on look at the Palm Pre and webOS, which are actually still in pre-release state and not finished.
A video gives some impressions on how fast the Palm Pre is at scrolling and flipping web pages. This looks awesome. The fact that Palm has based webOS on Linux gives them two thumbs up from me.
Palm managed to put a web technology layer on top of Linux that allows full flexibility that web technology offers today on a smartphone.
The browser of Palm Pre is based on webkit. The UI looks neat and the Pre touchscreen can be nicely used with one hand. More details and photos of the Palm Pre.
For me the Palm Pre is innovative enough and usable enough to be the first true iPhone challenger.
Palm lives.
