NTT DOCOMO is now offering the world's first fingerprint enabled and waterproof cell phone called the Fujitsu F-01A. The handset uses a fingerprint sensor for security that takes advantage of AuthenTec's TouchStone packaging.
The fingerprint sensor acts as a touchpad for navigating the phones menus. The handset runs the Symbian operating system, offers a 3.5-inch VGA touchscreen display, has a 5.2-megapixel camera with auto focus, and has built-in GPS.
Mobile Google Maps works with the GPS sensor for a moving map display. Other features include a 1Seg TV tuner, and e-Wallet mobile payment capability. The handset is waterproof to IPX5 and IPX7 specifications allowing it to stay submerged in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
