Underwriters Laboratories has issued a statement to warn consumers that there is a GPS product on shelves in stores that carries a counterfeit UL Mark. The GPS system in question is the AMCOR 3900 GPS navigation system and UL says that it has not evaluated the product for safety and the product isn't eligible to carry the UL mark.

The number of units in the market is 25,000 and while the manufacturer is AMCOR, the dates of manufacture are unknown. The product is identified with model number AMCOR 3900, Power Source DC 5V -- 2A, Power Consumption < 8W, the counterfeit UL mark and the words Made in China.

UL says that if you own one of these counterfeit products you should return it to where you purchased it immediately. There is no word on what retailers in the US were selling or continue to sell these products. I would bet they are carried by smaller, independent retailers.
