Apparently, I am one of the few tech geeks that hadn’t heard of the CrunchPad that Michael Arrington from TechCrunch was developing and hoping to release on the market. A prototype of the device showed up on Laptop yesterday and it looks intriguing.
The device is a tablet sporting a resolution of 1024 x 768 with a 12-inch slate form factor. The heart of the system is a Via Nano CPU and it has 1GB of RAM. Storage is to a smallish 4GB flash drive. The prototype is running Ubuntu Linux.
If the thing looks cool to you, Arrington is trying to make it better. Reportedly, the production device should be thinner and cooler looking. The CrunchTablet is hoped to hit market at around $200. Seems interesting, but I am not a Linux fan and would rather have XP on the little beast.
