AMD has issued its financial reports for Q4 2008 and 2008 yearly results. The second place CPU maker reports that Q4 revenue totaled $1.162 billion, down 35% from Q3 2008 and 33% compared to Q4 2007. AMD reports a net loss in Q4 2008 of $1.424 billion or $2.34 per share.
The overall operating loss for the quarter was $1.274 billion. The company adds that the loss includes costs related to the formation of The Foundry Company and an impairment for ATI of $684 million. The fiscal net loss for 2008 was $3.098 billion on revenue of $5.808 billion.
AMD had also reported a net loss for fiscal 2007 of $3.379 billion. I can’t help but wonder how long AMD will be able to carry on in its current form. The massive losses the firm has posted for the last two years and the continued write-downs in the value of ATI have to end at some point. Are the days of ATI numbered?
