You can't get away from the commercials and the service announcements on local TV channels and many national channels that have been playing for at least a year now warning viewers that the digital transition is coming next month.
Despite all of the press and ad spots to make viewers aware of the transition, Nielsen reports that a whopping 6.5 million homes in America aren’t prepared for the transition. The amount of homes in 2008 not ready for the switch totaled 6.8 million, so there has been little improvement since then.
The crazy part about this to me is that most of the people that needed converters could have got them for free or at a slight cost thanks to the government coupon program. I guess a free converter box was not enough to get people to get ready.
