Wearable consumer electronics isn't a new category; we have had jackets that can control your iPod and sunglasses with Bluetooth built-in for a while now. A new brand called PANiQ claims to be the world's first wearable electronics brand.
The system features PANiQ electronics that are modular, removable and integrated into PANiQmode clothing offering support for the iPod, iPhone, and Bluetooth. Any brand of apparel with the PANiQmode functionality can support any of the electronic devices offered by the company.
The interesting part is that supported clothing will come from several manufacturers including Cole Haan, Zoo York, KILLA, iQuantum, Celio, Beaucre, and Bailo. At launch, electronics will include controllers for the iPod and iPhone as well as a controller for Bluetooth cell phones and the iPod. Coming this spring will be a walkie-talkie and an AM/FM radio.
